8×10 Photo Size in Pixels – PrintPixel Tool

An 8×10 inch print is the classic frame size — 4:5, noticeably more square than the photos your camera takes. Here's how many pixels a sharp 8×10 needs.

Practical details

An 8×10 at 300 PPI needs 2400 × 3000 pixels — roughly 7 MP. Because 8×10 is 4:5, photos shot at 4:3 (many phones) or 3:2 (most DSLRs) will need cropping on the long edges to fit without stretching.

At 240 PPI, 1920 × 2400 pixels is enough for a crisp print at a normal viewing distance. If you plan to display an 8×10 in a frame viewed from a few feet away, 200 PPI (1600 × 2000 px) is often entirely acceptable too.
