How it works

From pixels to print in four steps

1. Choose your image

Drag and drop a photo, or click to browse. We support JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF where your browser can decode them.

2. Read the details

The analyzer reports pixel dimensions, megapixels, aspect ratio, orientation, format and file size — all read locally from the file.

3. Pick a print size

Choose a common photo or paper size, or enter any target. The tool calculates the pixels required and the effective resolution.

4. Get a practical verdict

See the effective PPI for your chosen viewing distance and a plain-English recommendation — including whether cropping may be needed.

Print quality guidance

What the quality rating means

Ratings are practical guidance for typical close-up viewing, not scientific guarantees. As viewing distance grows, lower resolutions become acceptable.

≥ 300 PPI

Excellent

Plenty of detail for close-up photo prints.

240–299 PPI

Very Good

High-quality prints; sharp at normal viewing distances.

180–239 PPI

Good

Fine for larger prints and most viewing distances.

150–179 PPI

Fair

Acceptable when viewed from a distance, soft up close.

Below 150 PPI

Low

Best printed smaller or viewed from well away.

Viewing distance

More forgiving

At arm's length or across a room, lower PPI still looks fine.
